Mrs. Calli Cutraro

Director of Advancement/ Director of Kindergarten Readiness

St. Hugo of the Hills Catholic School is accredited according to the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Elementary Schools. To be accredited, there are several standards we must meet and uphold.  One of the standards we must meet is: “An excellent Catholic school enacts a comprehensive plan for institutional advancement based on a compelling mission through communications, marketing, enrollment management, and development.” (Standard #13)

The Office of Advancement is responsible for raising funds for the The St. Hugo Catholic School (SHCS) Annual Fund. This SHCS Annual Fund offsets the “tuition gap” between what the actual cost per student that attends St. Hugo Catholic School and the tuition rate. That “gap” is the actual cost to operate the school including: teacher salaries, classroom supplies, utilities costs, building maintenance, etc.

Generous annual donors and fundraising efforts will support the SHCS Annual Fund. We are grateful to our donors for understanding the need to give to the SCHS Annual Fund each year. Because of our donors, tuition has remained manageable and competitive with area Catholic schools. The Office of Advancement now formalizes the fundraising at St. Hugo Catholic School.  Proceeds from annual events like the Fall Viking Games, Day of Giving to Catholic Schools, Spring Auction, and Mothers’ Spring Social contribute solely to the SHCS Annual Fund.  Gifts to the SHCS Annual Fund will be recognized in the Annual Report Giving Circles and published in the Fall Annual Report.

Many members of the St. Hugo community have asked why we continue to raise funds? For perspective, East Hills receives over $19,0200 per student to educate and East Over receives over $17,500 (information taken from https://oese.ed.gov/ppe/michigan) .

Our tuition is currently: Catholic Tuition $8,400 and Non-Catholic $10,050.

St. Hugo has to do  more with less, yet remain competitive in our community.

It is fundraising and your support of our SHCS Annual Fund that pays for large changes to the physical school building, technology labs, arts, sports and science opportunities in a faith-based, educational environment. With the participation of everyone, it is an additional $2,150/family. Not all families can afford to donate this amount.

Our ask of you this year is to help where possible to fill the “gap” for others.

Donations to our SHCS Annual Fund are always graciously accepted here: (link to Annual Fund on OSV)
