Disability Awareness Day -Disability Awareness Day for our fourth grade went very well this past Friday. We appreciate all of the parent volunteers, and Mrs. Bartoli for making this day possible. Alana Namy gave students an outstanding Power Point presentation focusing on Autism awareness. Alana was very inspirational to all who heard her present on the topic. Ms. Bitzinger also followed up with students leading a discussion about Autism. The day concluded with Mrs. St. Andre bringing in her therapy dog who helps kids in need. It was a day in which the fourth grade students gained a lot of perspective for those with disabilities.
Reading Specialist – Mrs. Merricle is working on student reading throughout all grade levels. She has done an excellent job assessing student reading, and coordinating with the teachers. Mrs. Merricle has also been working with students in all levels of reading offering the students reading enrichment opportunities. Student reading is critically important at school, but it is also important that parents stress reading at home.
First Quarter Report Cards/Conferences – It is hard to believe that the first quarter ends on Friday! Report cards will go home on Monday, November 6. Parent teacher conferences will take place the evening of Wednesday, November 8, and Thursday November 9 from 4:30pm-8:00pm. Iowa Test results will be given to parents at conferences. Be sure to watch for a Sign-up Genius to be sent out for conference sign-ups soon.
Pep Rally – We had a fun pep rally this past Wednesday in honor of an outstanding fall athletic season. The band started and concluded the event with some energetic fight songs and some rock songs. The band was followed by the cheerleaders that led the school in three inspirational cheers. We then honored all of our fall teams including the CYO Champion volleyball team. Congrats also to the CYO finalist girls’ varsity soccer team, and the boy’s semifinalist soccer team. They both had outstanding seasons!
