SHOW YOUR LOVE AND SUPPORT to the Zwolinski family by providing a meal. Long-time St. Hugo parent Peggy Zwolinski has been battling cancer for the past three years. Their daughter Rebecca graduated from St. Hugo three years ago and Melissa is a current fourth grade student. Peggy’s mother has been living with the family to help care for them and was recently diagnosed with cancer herself. ALANA’S FOUNDATION, in partnership with Michigan Community Visiting Nurse Association is offering free flu mist vaccines to St. Hugo students, faculty and staff on Tuesday, October 20 from 8:45am-12:00pm. Student participation is voluntary. A completed, signed consent form for each student receiving the vaccine must be submitted to the front office no later than Tuesday, October 13. Additional forms are available in the front office.
COMPUTER RECYCLING will take place October 9-11 from 8:30am-5:00pm. Please drop off your computers, printers and other electronic equipment for recycling in the boxes inside the St. Hugo maintenance garage located near the Ladies of Charity. Thank you for helping make us a “green school”!
LAST CHANCE TO REGISTER FOR GIRLS ON THE RUN! Girls on the Run is a new program for girls in grades 3-5. It is a fun, interactive program coached by Mrs. Bartoli, Miss Fleischer, Miss Bartoli, and Miss Cowper. The purpose of the program is to make girls feel empowered and self-confident while teaching them how to make new friends and be a better friend. Contact Mrs. Bartoli with questions. THE DETROIT RED WINGS and forward Justin Abdelkader are excited to announce the third year of Red Wings for Reading presented by Michigan Education Savings Program (MEAP). All K-5 students are encouraged to enter this fun contest by reading three popular children’s books for their age group listed on the website below. Every qualified student whose guardian submits an entry form will receive an exclusive Red Wings’ reading fan pack and be entered to win a monthly pair of Red Wings tickets to a home game during the 2015-2016 regular season courtesy of forward Justin Abdelkader! The school with the most entries between August 31, 2015 and March 1, 2016, will get the unique opportunity for Justin Abdelkader to read to a class! BACK TO SCHOOL AND CLEANING OUT CLOSETS? The St. Hugo Altar Guild is hosting its annual Coat and Clothing Drive benefiting the Ladies of Charity. Donations are being accepted at all St. Hugo Masses the weekend of October 3-4. Please bring all coats, clothing, shoes, boots and cold weather gear in plastic bags on your way to Mass. The Ladies of Charity are grateful for your generosity to our neighbors who are in desperate need of these items. BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND is Red Wings Family Night! Game night is Friday, November 13 at 7:30pm vs San Jose Sharks. This year St. Hugo has been allotted 200 tickets. Complete your order form and return it with your check made payable to St. Hugo PTG (put “Red Wing Night” on the memo line) as soon as possible. Orders will be processed on a first come, first served basis. Any orders received after our allotment has been exhausted will go on a wait list as the Red Wings may release extra tickets. THE HEALTH ROOM/EPI PEN TRAINING will be Thursday, October 1 right after drop off in the Fr. Esper Room. If you are new to the health room or if you just want a refresher please plan on attending.
