ST. HUGO IS STARTING a monthly book club! Students in grades 4-6 who love to read are invited to join Mrs. Braet in the library on Fridays after school until 4:30pm. February’s book will be The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau. Book club will be $60 for a 3 week session (February 3, 10 and 24). Weekly snacks, materials, and a purchased copy of the book for each student to keep will be included with the fee. If interested, please contact Mrs. Braet, email@example.com, or send a check made payable to Katrina Braet in the amount of $60. The book club is limited to 12 students each month.

ALL-IN FOR ST. HUGO AUCTION 2017 donation update:
o First grade families have donated 35 bottles of wine, so far. We are looking to have 100 bottles of wine donated for the “wine wall” at this year’s auction. If you are able to donate a bottle (or more!), please drop off at the office marked “Auction” – include your name, address and phone number for donation purposes. We are looking for $15-$25 per bottle value for this project. Thank you for your generosity to reach 100!

St. Hugo of the Hills Technology – We are fortunate to have such great technology resources. I witnessed this past week 5th grade students designing a map project with ozobots. Remarkably, the students were able to track the voyage of the early explorers by programing their ozobot. Students gained a better perspective of exactly the voyages of these early explores by using modern technology. Great collaboration was displayed between computer teacher Mrs. Mick and 5th grade Social Studies teacher Mrs. MacLean. In 8th grade Mrs. Kurn had students type out on chrome books their final assignment for Call of the Wild. Mrs. Kurn went around to all of her students making sure their assignments were grammatically correct.
Kindergarten Readiness – The Kindergarten Readiness program will take place next year. We currently have 12 students and will take up to 18 as Mrs. Przygocki will have an aide. Any families interested in registering should do so soon as once we have 18 registered the rest of the students will go on a waiting list.
CYO – Congrats to the Varsity Girls’ Basketball team as they were victorious over St. Anne this past weekend and remain undefeated. Congrats to the fifth grade boys’ team that picked up their first win of the season. Continued good luck to all of our Viking teams!
Open House – Open House is this Sunday, February 22 11:00am-2:00pm. The Jasper Family is our Facebook “sharing” winner! They will be receiving some St. Hugo Spirit Wear. Please remember the best form of marketing is you. We appreciate all our community inviting people that you may know interested in an outstanding Catholic education.
Commitment Mass – Yesterday Fr. Tony expressed his gratitude to me for all of the students that helped out with our Commitment Mass this past Sunday.
