EACH YEAR A PARENT TEACHER GUILD (PTG) is formed. The PTG is comprised of a president, president-elect (who becomes president the following year), treasurer, treasurer-elect (who becomes treasurer the following year), and secretary. The function of the PTG is to assist in the coordination of fundraising activities, formation of volunteer groups, and parent sponsored activities of the school. The PTG also serves as a liaison between the parent body and the principal. The nomination committee of the PTG is seeking nominees for the 2016-2017 school year. Please submit your nominations to Allison Mayette, adonn1926@aol.com, by May 1.

CONGRATULATIONS TO:

  • Our second graders who celebrated their First Communion this past weekend!
  • Our 4th grade for finishing in first place in the Catholic Math League! The top three participants from St. Hugo were Joseph Joulakh, Maggie Scott, and Rohan Turner. Placing in the top four in our division were: Joseph Joulakh, and Maggie Scott.
  • Our 7th and 8th grade dance attendees! 85 students attended the dance which was a new record number and they raised $445 for the Flint Water Crisis.

 

ATTENTION! 8TH GRADE STUDENTS planning on attending Brother Rice High School! If you would like to apply for the Jeffery Ureel Scholarship, please turn in your two page essay to Sister Margaret by Monday, May 2. See Mrs. Bartoli with any questions.

 

ANOTHER SAFETY REMINDER: Last week at dismissal there was a traffic jam on Opdyke Road. Some people entered the parking lot at the lowest entrance/exit which created a hazard to the vehicles trying to go down the hill to exit properly. In situations such as this we ask that you exercise patience, wait for traffic to clear, and adhere to parking lot guidelines.

 

CUB SCOUTS REGISTRATION and camp opportunity: Cub Scouts is a fun program for young boys in grades 1-5, however, present kindergarten boys who are six NOW may register. Also, any current 1st-4th grade boys who did not register last fall are encouraged to register now as well. The Cub Scouts will be camping at D-Bar-A Scout Ranch in Metamora the first weekend of June! Cub Scouts will explore the wilderness, learn valuable camping skills, play sporting games and try their hands at supervised activities such as archery, and more! A ST. HUGO PARISHIONER has an upright piano would like to donate a piano to a good home. If interested, please contact the front office for more information.

LABELS FOR EDUCATOIN/CAMPBELL’S SOUP LABEL PROGRAM is being discontinued at the end of the school year. If you have any labels please turn them into the front office by Friday, April 29 so St. Hugo can redeem them. Submit your labels with your child’s name and grade and they will be counted in next year’s Boxtop competition. Thank you for supporting our school!

 

THE FIRST WEEK OF SYDNEY STILL’S FIELD HOCKEY CLINIC took place this past weekend. Thank you to the 6th-8th grade girls who participated! It is not too late to join in the remainder of the clinics. We have acquired more field hockey sticks to accommodate new players. Dates remaining are Sunday, May 1, Sunday, May 15 and Sunday May 22, 12:00pm-1:30pm at Marian’s back field. Fee for clinic is a $25 donation to the IHM. Please email Sydney Still at introfieldhockey@gmail.com if you would like to join.
